At Socko we're on a mission to re-teach the lost art of darning, helping you on your way to a more sustainable wardrobe through mending. We run workshops but for those more confident with a needle and thread looking for a simple refresher, you're in the right place. Follow the steps below and we would love to see how you get on! #darnsocko

Start by sewing a loose horizontal running stitch wide of the hole. Alternate rows in a brick pattern. When you reach the hole, carry the thread across and continue in pattern on the other side.

Once wide of the other side of the hole, start to sew the same pattern vertically, weaving in and out of your horizontal stitches.

Continue until you have a neat patch. Experiment with colours and working on the inside and outside of your garment.
